What to do when you launch OpenWaggle for the first time — provider setup, project selection, and sending your first message.

When you launch OpenWaggle for the first time, you’ll see the main workspace with an empty chat. To start using the agent:

1. Set up a provider — Click the gear icon in the sidebar to open Settings. Go to Connections and add an API key for at least one provider. See Providers & Models for detailed setup instructions.

2. Select a project — Click “Select a project folder to get started” in the welcome screen, or use the folder button in the sidebar. This gives the agent access to your codebase.

3. Pick a model — Use the model selector in the composer toolbar to choose which AI model to use. The default is Claude Sonnet 4.5 (Anthropic).

4. Send a message — Type in the composer and press Enter. The agent will respond and can use tools to read, write, and modify files in your project.
